This is your chance to complete both the NNAS Bronze Navigation Course & the Night Owl Navigation Course in one unforgettable adventure.

Event Schedule:

  • Date: 30th-31st August 2025 (Arrive Friday night to set up your camp)

  • Time: 09:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day (Saturday night we will run the Night Owl Award)

  • Location: Malvern Hills, Worcestershire.

Agenda

  • Day 1:

    • 09:00 AM - Welcome and Introduction

    • 09:30 AM - Overview of the Navigation Syllabus

    • 10:00 AM - Map Reading Techniques

    • 12:30 PM - Lunch Break

    • 1:30 PM - Practical Navigation Exercises

    • 4:30 PM - Review and Q&A

    • 5:00 PM - End of Day 1

    • Night Owl (4 Hours after dinner)

  • Day 2:

    • 08:00 AM - Recap of Day 1

    • 08:30 AM - Continue Navigation Skills

    • 12:30 PM - Return to camp for assessment

    • 1:00 PM - Navigation Assessment

    • 2:00 PM - Feedback and Closing Remarks

    • 2:30 PM - End of Day 2

Kit List

  • Topographic Map of Malvern (Supplied)

  • Compass (Supplied, or bring your own!)

  • Waterproof Map Case (Optional)

  • Comfortable Hiking Boots

  • Weather-appropriate Clothing (layers recommended)

  • Water Bottle (at least 1 litre)

  • Packed Lunch and Snacks (supplied)

  • First Aid Kit/Personal Medication

  • Notebook and Pen

  • Mobile Phone (with emergency contacts)

  • Dinner (supplied)

  • Breakfast (Supplied)

  • Personal snacks

  • Waterproof jacket and trousers

  • Camping kit (tent, sleeping bag, pillow, bed)

  • Headtorch with batteries (ensure they work!)

  • Portable phone charger


Additional Information

Please ensure you arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes early for registration. All participants do not need to have any previous understanding of navigation principles before attending this course.
